FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

BJJ is a full-contact grappling sport with the objective of taking your opponent to the ground, dominating them with position, and submitting them with joint-locks and strangulations. There is no striking in Jiu-Jitsu whatsoever.

Do I need to have previous experience?

Nope! We train men and women of all ages and experience levels. You can always sit in on a class to observe first.

Is the monthly membership contracted?

Nope! Cancel anytime.

What if I just want to drop-in here and there?

Contact us and we will find a drop-in fee that works for you. If you ever find yourself training more often, we can switch you to the monthly membership for a better deal at any time.

What is a "Gi" and do I need one?

The Gi is the traditional uniform and belt of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. When we train with the gi, we utilize unique grips on the gi that we don't otherwise have in a No-Gi class. For "Gi" classes, your own gi is required.

When you come to class...

  • Please have your finger & toe nails clipped.

  • Please wear rash-guard material exercise clothing and if it is a Gi class, bring your gi.

  • Please be clean and respect that this is a full-contact sport.

  • If you have long hair, please keep it pulled back.

  • Bring a water bottle and stay hydrated.

  • Remove any jewelry that could get caught on material or injure your training partner
